Time for Change.

So, here's a hilarious stamp set that I got from Unity Stamps a while back.  I know that last week I told you about my appointment with Dr Aboumatar.  I also took him this card & envie wrapped in plastic with a note on top that said "Give this to those patients who are afraid."  I am sure he got a chuckle out of that. I doubt he would actually give it to a patient, but having been one of his patients, all I can tell those other patients is "CHANGE is a good thing"
Often time by the time a doctor is TELLING you that surgery is necessary, esp when it is brain surgery, it's necessary.  Doesn't make it easier to say yes though.  Sometimes his staff calls me to let me know that they have a patient who would like to talk to someone who has been through surgery.  I give them my number so they can call.  I know the process before surgery is daunting but the reward after is amazing, more than you can really imagine.  It was more than I ever dreamed I would get.  I am so thankful that I didn't hesitate to go through the change and that my husband was 100% at my side the whole time along with my friends at church.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Image (Unity Stamps); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Bling (Hobby Lobby); Die Cuts (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Ink (Copic Markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots);

Butterfly Kisses

Here's a beautiful image from Sweet Pea stamps artist Joanne Schempp called Jenny.  She's a beautiful woman.  I colored her here in Copic Markers and used some shimmery flocked paper from Heidi Grace.  I added some gorgeous lace from Istanbul and I added some red jewels in the center of the flowers. and then found a beautiful green butterfly to give the card a striking contrast.
The sentiment here "Butterfly Kisses" comes from Sweet Pea stamps as a rubber stamp.
Here's a closeup of Jenny, currently available as a digi stamp.

Be sure and check out the other wonderful digi-stamps as well as Joanne Schempp's other amazing designs.  She makes the most striking mermaids and beautiful maidens.

Along Came a Spider Easel Card

Here's a card that pops open and stands up (i.e. an easel card).  This gorgeous image is from artist Mitzi Sato-Wiuff of Scrapbook Stamp Society.  The image is called Along came a Spider.  I colored her up in yellowish greens from Copic and then used Bazzill papers to match.
Here's a close up of the image itself.  Totally gorgeous.

Yeah Dr A!!

So I made this cute card to take with me when I had my last visit to my neurologist (actually, Epileptologist).  This cute stamp is from Simply Betty Stamps and I added my own sentiment.  He does so much for so many people. I found this card fitting.  The appointment went great and I am happy to report that I am now on the path to completely reduce another medication.

Three more months and I will be done with another prescription drug!  YES!  Now that does make me want to do some cheerleading for that doctor.  Go Doctor Go!

Challenge Card

Here's my card for this week's SSS Challenge.  The challenge is to use stripes and dots, so to have stripes I used strips of paper and for dots I used buttons.  I then added this adorable girl image from artist Karen Sheltrown of Scrapbook Stamp Society.  This image is called Costume4.

The contest is ending soon, so be sure to make up a quick card to participate this week.  Else, check them out every Monday for the next contest to be announced.

The Candy Striper

Here's a brand new image from Sweet Pea stamps artist Concetta Kilmer called The Candy Striper.  I just LOVE this image.  She's got some great sassiness.  Just up my alley.  I decided to color her up in pink and black and create a card to match.

Here's a close up of the image itself.  Currently this image is being sold as a digi-stamp.

I layered the image on top of some gorgeous embossed paper using a folder from Cuttlebug and then took a Souffle pen and added white in various areas.  I also added some super cute sparkly buttons from American Traditionals.

Hope you will check out the newest Digi-Stamp images and create a card today!

I love my wise guy!

I love my wise guy.  Isn't this a cute little card?  I took some totally gorgeous papers from Paper Temptress and this adorable image from Unity Stamps to create this card today.  I know I am a huge fan of owls.  There's nothing sweeter in the summer time than walking my neighborhood at night and hearing an owl hooting.

I am using gorgeous Paper Temptress papers today starting with a shimmery mica cardstock for the base, it's called Copper Mica.  The next layer up, on the corner is a black grandee felt, torn, not cut to give it some extra texture.  I then added a die cut layer using Spellbinders Nestabilities of Ruche paper called Cocoa Crepe.  The top layer, that I stamped my image on is Heavenly white.  I also added a tiny border of heavenly white on the left hand side of the card.

Hope this card gave you some good ideas.  Have a crafty day.

Cheers, Holley

Me and my pet snail

Here's a fun summer theme image from Scrapbook Stamp Society artist Sherri Baldy of a cute little girl and her pet snail....or perhaps it is just a giant stuffed snail.  I can recall having a snail as a kid, but it was not quite that large.  Poor thing, I think I kept it in fish bowl  I really didn't know at that age that snails could not live underwater.

Check out all of Sherri's fun images at SSS and then go to the Challenge Blog to see this week's contest.  Most contests have a great prize of $30 gift card to the store.

Project Materials;  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); DigiStamp (Scrapbook Stamp Society--Addicted to Stamps); Lace (Michaels); Buttons (Jesse James); Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Stickers (); Adhesives (Staples, Pop dots, glue all);  Color (Copic Markers);

Squigglefly Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for the Squigglefly Challenge, this week it's Red, White, and Blue.  You don't have to make it a patriotic card, but you can.  As you see, I have the cutest little scout here from artist Cheryl Alger called Be Prepared.  I am also using a star design from artist Pamela Lehto called 4 Stars.

Hope you will go over to the Squigglefly Challenge blog and check out what the Holley Hobbyists have made.  Then create your own red, white and blue card. I know we have lots of international players, so 4th of July is not required, even for our USA members, as long as you are using red, white and blue.  Just join in the fun!  you could win a free stamp from Squigglefly.

Some Odd Girl

So here's a color I don't work in often--green.  I am using it today to make this mono-tone card with an adorable stamp from Some Odd Girl.  She's definitely a cutie.  The paper I am using is flocked with soft brown.  It feels wonderful to the touch.  Too bad you  can't run your hand over the screen and feel it.

America the Beautiful

Hi all, here's my version of this month's stamp for Sweet Pea's Variation week.  Aren't you just loving all the cards?  This stamp is from Artist Karen Middleton and is called Red, White, and Blue.  I created this America the Beautiful card using some wonderful red, white and blue embellishments to go along with it. The image is mounted on shimmery silver paper.

Here's a closeup of the image that I colored. So adorable!
There's also two other Karen Middleton images that are just perfect for those 4th of July cards and they match this stamp perfectly! One is called Star Spangle and the other is Star Spangled Banner.  Hope you will check out these cute images for those summer holiday cards.

My Best Friend

Here's one of my favorites in the Queen Kat store, it's a Creepie Cutie from artist Kristie Silva.  This image is called Midnight Dreary.  I totally love her whole stamp line.  Those little skull barrettes and skull on her tshirt...perfect with the skull border that I added.

Hope you are having a great time now that Summer is in full swing.  The schools just ended here in TX, as most kids went to school through last week.  I imagine it will be a much different week now that all the kids are off.  Have fun everyone.

Check me out

Here's a super cute stamp from Squigglefly artist Fawn Palmer called Corsets and Fishnets.  I am using this fun stamp set for the Challenge this week which is to create a card using some Wrap.  That can mean using some twill as I did here on my card or using some form or gift wrap on the card instead of paper.  I must say, I just LOVE this sexy lady stamp because it comes with the cutest sayings, the one I am using is "Behind every great woman is a man checking out her a$$" it also has another saying (not shown) that is "I am not a HAS BEEN, I am a WILL BE."  HA!
Drop by the Squigglefly Challenge blog this week and check out the examples from their design team and then create a card to share.  The winner gets a freebie from Squigglefly.

Meet Jayne

Meet Jayne Jettpack from Kenny K.  This artist has some of the hottest stamps out there. He's the artist who made the stamp that I used for my Anniversary Card to my husband last month (Lady Raven--click here if you missed it).  This cool stamp is called Jayne Jettpack.  Now, as a rocket scientist, ok, as an engineer who worked for NASA, you know I have a thing for rocket science.  So I had to get this stamp!  I added a great saying from Cosmo Cricket "She loved to dream because in her dreams, She could fly."
Here's a close up of my stamp coloring:
Hope this card made you smile today.  If only I had a jetpack to take me around town....

Scotty Dog

Here's an adorable doggie stamp from artist Kim Pipkin Gwin called Scotty Dog.  If you check out this stamp at the website, you will notice that it also has a Christmas ornament with it, but I just wanted to use it for a summertime card, so I removed the ornament.  This dog is just so cute! I had a neighbor who had scotty dogs.  I gave him a checkerboard scarf and then picked ribbon for it to match.

The SSS Challenge this week is to add a charm to your card. As you can see, I added a little brass charm that is a bowl of dog food.  I also added a bunch of cute little doggie bones as a border around the base of this card with a green sentiment "Beautiful Memories."  Hope you feel inspired to go join in on the Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge this week, the prize is a $30 gift card.

My Main Squeeze

Here's an adorable image from Unity Stamps.  I love this artist, Phyllis Harris, who makes stamp designs for them.  I have bought a number of her designs.  If you feel like you recognize her art, she is better known for being the artist from the children's magazine called Highlights.  I can remember reading those as a kid.  Watch my blog as you'll be seeing a number of her stamps from Unity.

Elisabeth Bell's Mermaid

Here's another very quick and easy summer card that I did for a family member who lives down by the coast.  This cutie is just sweet as can be.  She's called Oceanessa Mermaid and she comes from Sweet Pea Stamps.  She's too cute so I colored her up and found the perfect matching shimmery papers to go with her.
You wouldn't think so, but don't teal and orange go well together?  They are opposite on the color wheel, so they are called complementary colors.  Probably not the colors one would immediately think to throw together, but they actually do work.

Project Materials: Cardstock(Bazzill, Hobby Lobby, Crafter's Companion); Stamp(Sweet Pea Stamps); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Buttons (Jesse James); Die Cut (Lifestyles--Quickkutz); Color(Copic Markers); Adhesives (pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots);

I can look at some wonderful stamps and I just KNOW they are by Elisabeth Bell before I even see her name.  This cutie is one of them.  She's a gorgeous Sweet Pea stamp called Tummy Time.  I have colored her up for summer and put her on a gorgeous monotone card with all pinks.
I am also using a wonderful Sweet Pea saying "Have a magical day."  That's just perfect for this gorgeous little girl.  Tomorrow I will share another great card using an Elisabeth Bell stamp from Sweet Pea stamps so Stay tuned.....

La fleurs

Here's a cute card I made using a free image from artist Sandra Caldwell.  So cute, huh?  If you like it, drop on by and grab it at Babycakes Doodle This and That, be sure and leave her a thanks.  I am showing off this image using amazing orange papers from Paper Temptress.  What a  bright sunny day it is and the oranges are gleaming here.

The base of the card actually has mica in it, so it sparkles and shimmers in the light. It's called Mangue Sparkle.  The image is a digital stamp, so I ran it through my printer using Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Works gorgeously in the printer for digital stamps and then for use with coloring with Copic Markers.  Behind the image I have a portion of the Hambly Studio Overlays.  These Overlays are 12x12" sheets, but each piece works so wonderfully that I get them in 6x6" sections and then carve them up as needed for my cards.  As you can see, the small portion of the screen that I used here all matches and makes a delightful background for the image on this card.  This overlay is called Orange Mod Circles.  If you like using the overlays, I would recommend getting one of the 6x6" packages that comes with an assortment of sheets.  The final paper I used on this card was some amazing Mica to cut out the detailed corner die cuts.  That shimmery cardstock is called Flame.

Hope this sunny card has made you feel warm and bright today.  Happy Summer and I hope it will be filled with lots of wonderful crafting.

Cheers, Holley

Art from Sandra Caldwell

Some time ago I shared a wonderful gift that I had received from artist Sandra Caldwell.  Here's some more of the great art items that she sent me!! I just had to share them.  Some of them are things that she handmade.    If you missed it, she has a great blog that she sells Digi-stamps at.  When I had my month of celebration in Feb, celebrating THREE years post brain surgery, Sandra created three free digi-stamps to give away to everyone!!  On top of that, she made me my own personal stamp, a stamp of me, with a little crown and the number 3.  How cute is that?

We had a fun contest using her digi-stamps with a group called Scrapbook Place.  Sandra also created a freebie stamp for that group!

Drop by her blog and download the freebies, Babycakes Doodle This and That.
