Take a Journey

Have you seen the new shaded images at the Sweet Pea store?  These images make coloring so simple and easy, you can still add your own shading techniques and colors, but you can also just print them out in black and white and leave them as they are OR just add a single highlight color (like skin tone) OR do full coloring to add even more depth.  Here's a stunning image from artist Katerina Koukiotis called Beautifully Red.
Here's a closeup of this lovely image, the paper shown here that is actually stitched is wall paper!! Did you have any idea of that?  Lots of places you can get fabulous free remnants the perfect size for stitching up and making little fun boxes for your cards.

Have a great weekend and be sure and check out the newest images from artist Katerina Koukiotis, esp. these fun pre-shaded ones.

No Jokers Allowed!

Here's a beautiful card using gorgeous Papers from Paper Temptress and a stunning image from Sweet Pea Stamps called We're all mad Here.  Isn't she stunning?  I wanted to using some striking papers to make sure this image popped off the card.  The image is actually the shape of the gold cardstock, the pink is just the background for the image.

Here's an closeup of this beautiful image from Sweet Pea Stamps:
The paper for the background of this card is called Gold Metallic Glossy.  The center stripe is handmade by me using a clear transparency which is inked with droplets of alcohol ink. I am using a strip of Neenah Solar White Classic Crest behind it to ensure you can see the alcohol ink colors.  The image is mounted on three papers:  Neenah Solar white Classic Crest, Ruche Deep Blue Crepe, and Azalea Mica/Metallic.  I printed out both my sentiment as well as my digital stamp image on the Neenah Solar White paper. To add sentiment, my clever husband came up with the saying"Seeking: King of Diamonds; No Jokers Allowed."

I hope this card inspires you to pull out some fun images and gorgeous papers this week to create something!  Have a wonderful weekend.

Need a maid?

Here's another one of the new releases from SLS Lines this month, click here to see him in the store.  Isn't he a hunk?  I know I might hire a maid if more of them looked like he did.  I took a fun sentiment that used to say "you sweep me off my feet" and changed it to just say "Sweep me OFF my feet!"  I am guessing no matter which way this man is sweeping, the housewife is going to be happy!  We were laughing about it on Facebook and my comment was, I just wish my husband would dress like this and clean the house.  I think everyone else just said that they wished their husbands would clean ANYTHING.

Check out all the fun stamps at the SLS Lines store on ETSY. We're also have a Christmas theme challenge on our Challenge Blog, it's Christmas/creepmas so share your Christmas card in any fun to funky theme with us, we can't wait to see them.

Cheers, Holley

Project Materials:  Cardstock(Pebbles, Neenah, Heidi Grace, Hobby Lobby); Image (SLS Lines; Sentiment-Unity Stamps); Lace (JoAnns); Buttons (); Ink (Colorbox Chalk); Color (Copic markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, GLue all, GLue dots, Ribbon glue);

Baby Shower!

Here's the card I made for my Brother and his wife for their baby shower today.  I had previously sent them a little gift, but today they are having a formal shower, so I wanted to make a handmade card and get it in the mail to them.  I made this sweet little shaker card that says "Celebrate Life's Little Miracles" with lots of fun baby theme confetti in it.

Wishing them the best as the end of the pregnancy draws near and it comes time for the baby girl to arrive!

Gorgeous Ike's Art Maiden using paper Temptress Papers

Here's a beautiful combination of papers from Paper Temptress and a lovely image from Ike's art.  This image is called Muse 5, isn't she a stunner?  I am using Copics E00-E02 and E93-E99;  I am using two different sheets of Hambly Clear overlays along with one of their screenprint sheets to complete this card.  Ike's Art is having a contest for Anything but Square card, so share your creation with them!

The shaped base of the card comes from the Hambly Overlay called Orange Bohemian.  If you check out the product from the link above, you will see the design I cut from the overlay.  From the photo of the overlay on the website, I am using the pattern in the upper left hand side. What's great is that you will still get to see this pattern on the back of the card, AND, you have so much left of that 12x12 sheet.  (To be honest, I have already used the other parts of this sheet, I had been saving this pattern for a special card; I just love the orange speckle on the rest of the sheet)

I am using some white cardstock, so that you can see the additional overlay, as well as have a place to write a message inside the card.  I used a sheet of Neenah Solar White and cut it 5.5 x 11 to create a 5.5" square.  The image was then printed on the remaining piece of the Neenah Solar White cardstock;  I attached the second Hambly Overlay to the white card front using some adorable Queen&Co brads with Doodlebug sequins, it's called Brown Heliconias.  The shimmery printed paper is Hambly Studio Screenprint called Script tease.  I definitely recommend the 6x6 package Screenprints as you get a little of everything and always have the perfect paper to match your product.  Finally I added an additional piece of copper mica paper to highlight the image.

Hope that gives you some good ideas for creating a unique card using a bunch of papers (even those great scraps) and layering everything together.  Have a great Thursday!

Cheers, Holley

Hello There

Here's a beautiful tiny fairy image from Day for Daisies.  I just love this artist's images, esp her little fairy stamps.  This one is no exception.  I made her bright and beautiful so she would pop right off the card.  The challenge this week on the Monday Greetings Challenge at Outlawz is to use chalk somewhere.  I used chalk on the background paper, I smeared it across the background to add the beautiful color as well as on the edges of the die cut.

Share a card that you use a little chalk on...and, don't forget a sentiment for the Greetings Challenge.  no image is required. Monday Outlawz Greetings.

Cheers, Holley

Project materials:  Cardstock(Bazzill Glazed, Neenah); Image (Day for Daisies); pearls (Micheals); Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Chalk (); Sentiment (); Adhesives (pop dots, Glue all);

Santa, I want to be a reindeer!

Here's an awesome image from SLS Lines.  The new monthly contest is starting today over at the SLS Blog just click the challenge link on the toolbar. Our theme this month is Christmas/Creepmas.  So you can do anything Christmas theme, creepy or not.  I decided to do something funny as I find so many of SLS Lines image just hilarious!  This cutie is called Earth Day Warrior.  As you can see, I totally turned him into a Christmas theme card by coloring him up in red/black like an elf and added some funny sentiments

"Ummmm, Santa, can I be a reindeer this year?"

"I don't want to be an elf anymore. Please?
I have been studying up on my geography."
I added some fun Christmas ribbon and some pine die cut with some hanging ornaments.  I must say seeing this guy just totally makes me think of that elf from Rudolf, the one who just didn't want to be an elf anymore, he wanted to be a dentist!  Well, I am thinking this little guy, he wouldn't want to be making toys for a living either!  Ha ha!

Have a great day and join in the fun at the SLS Lines Challenge.  Share your Christmas cards with us, be they Creepy, Cute or hilarious?  Not sure exactly where mine fits.  I think hilarious but I have family who tells me that it's creepy, lol!!

Cheers, Holley

All occasion card

Here's some beautiful papers from Paper Temptress today.  It's a quick and cute card that can be made quick and when finished it looks very elegant and store bought. These fun vase die cuts come from Die-Versions.  The embossing done on the second layer is a 6x6" folder from Crafter's companion.  I left the sentiment off the card for now as I am not sure what I will use it for, but a sweet and simple sentiment in the bottom right corner will be just the perfect touch to finish off this card and make it perfect for almost any occasion.

The base of the card is often referred to as lunch bag or kraft paper.  Here's the different kinds you can get at Paper Temptress. I am using the Craft 100 on this card, but I also love the brown bag one.  The white cardstock I used here is Neenah Solar white classic crest.  I cut it to fit the card width and then used a tear to create the edges .  The beautiful shimmery red cardstock is Vermillion Sparkle.  The gorgeous die cuts are done with Mica/Metallic cardstock called Gold.

Hope this inspires you to create some quick and cute cards that you can set aside so you will have some cards for those occasions when you realize you need a card RIGHT NOW....this sweet card would be a great thank you, happy birthday, thinking of you, get well soon, or other theme that you can grab and write a quick note for that friend and pop in the mail.

Cheers, Holley

Congratuations

As I mentioned last week, the supreme court recently made headway for couples in 13 states in the US to now get legally married.  Friends at my church did so on that very Friday after the ruling.  I made this card for them using a beautiful image from Ike's Art.  They have already been together for 13 years and have two adorable adopted kids who are just a delight.  I wish them all the best.  May everyone treat others the way they would like to be treated, with love, dignity and respect.

Have a blessed week everyone.

Going to share this card with the people over at the Ike's art challenge, but this card is not for their challenge this week as their challenge is about Fantasy!  But this card is no longer Fantasy, this is reality! But I do want to share it there as I very much appreciate the owner for getting the image to me immediately Friday night so I could get the card done in time for church on Sunday (Thanks Sue Eisnehauer!)  I have another fantasy card coming for the challenge later this week!

Cheers, Holley

Feel Good today

Here's a fun image from SLS Lines called Voodoo Doll.  What a fun image.  As you can see, I can turn any image into a pink filled card!  Even the poison is ink.  Looks like this doll is a bit unsure about that huge pin he's holding....just seeing that made me add the hilarious text on the card...which might I add came from a sticker set that has absolutely nothing to do with this image or topic!
Hope you love this fun image, SLS Lines also have some fun retro images, gorgeous ladies and fairies, and hilarious fun images.  Check out the etsy store.  There's also a challenge this month that runs until the 11th, so please share a card with us for your chance to win!

Also, wonderful Challenge at Left of Center Challenge is still going on being sponsored by SLS Lines!  It's called Ink it up (like adding the ink I did on my die cut image).  Join in that challenge as well.

Cheers, Holley
